Gilead and the Tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh [Judges 12:4]
- The Ephraimites accused the Gileadites of being renegade tribes of Joseph [Jdg 12:4].
- The first we hear of Gilead was in the story of Jacob [Gen 31:21-25].
- The men who bought Joseph came from Gilead [Gen 37:23-25].
- The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh request to settle in Gilead [Num 32:1-42].
- All Israel in the wilderness was a Church/congregation/assembly [Num 32:2; Act 7:38 (KJV)]
- This particularly applies to when God was giving them the Ten Commandments.
- The story of Jephthah, a Gileadite, who was called to lead Israel against the Ammonites [Jdg 11].
- The Gileadites are descendants of Manasseh through Makir [Num 26:29].
- The story of Zelophehad's daughters mentions Gilead [Num 27:1-11; 36:1-12]
- Moses saw all the land from Gilead to Dan before he died [Deut 34:1]
